In 2010 the Museum was granted MLA (Museums Libraries and Archives Council) Funding to assist in pushing forward its environmental improvement programme for the No 39 Wellington Street building. The primary objectives of this project have been to improve the Museum’s sustainability. This has involved substantial changes at roof level, with new plant installations, a significant increase in the provision of photovoltaic panels and increased thermal insulation. Internally the top floor office accommodation has been completely reconfigured to provide a more open and flexible “One-Office” arrangement with a considerable custom-built furniture content and new services installations; also a new classroom has been incorporated for schools visits.
